Magna Montis was founded by former-sommelier Martin Dicuzzo, who uses his extensive list of contacts to source fruit from some of the Uco Valley’s finest sites. The resulting wines are terroir-driven, polished and notable for their freshness – a world away from the soupy, overripe caricature of the Argentinian Malbec. Magna Motnis’ range begins with the excellent Uco Valley Malbec, raised exclusively in concrete tanks, and culminates with Machinte; a multi-layered, mineral Malbec from two low-yielding plots with complex alluvial soils, which is aged in a combination of concrete eggs and used oak. Look out too for the new 100% Cabernet Franc from San Pablo, where the vines lie at a minimum 1,100m altitude.
