This is an exciting and dynamic ‘new’ 12-hectare operation, brought to life by two brothers, Matthieu and Gaëtan Thevenard, both in their thirties, who decided to return to the family property in Uchizy, just north of Mâcon, and become the 5th generation of vignerons in their family. Prior to their return, the family had been selling the fruit from the estate to the well-regarded local co-op for many years, but the two brothers quickly ended the contract and set about building a state-of-the-art new cuverie, with the space and design to allow them to expand further over the coming years. 2022 is only their second vintage, and the quality of the wines more than justifies their decision to keep the fruit for themselves. The wines are racy and mouthwatering with a keen sense of minerality across the range. They are aged in mainly 450-liter barrels of which between 5% and 10% are new. There is much to love here.
