A relatively new and hugely exciting addition to our portfolio is Domaine de Lorient, based in Saint-Péray in the Northern Rhône. Laure Colombo (daughter of totemic Cornas winemaker Jean-Luc Colombo) and her partner Dimitri Roulleau-Gallais have created an eco-friendly farming haven from which they live sustainably and produce olive oil, almonds, apple juice, and honey.
The estate is farmed using biodynamic practices and certified organic. Laure and Dimitri produce wines of generosity and elegance that stopped us dead in our tracks and left us wondering how soon we could ship and start selling (and drinking) them. With just a few vintages to their name, they are already standard-bearers for Saint Péray, and their fresh, aromatic Cornas is simply outstanding. The single-parcel Saint-Péray Saute Mouton (70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne) is raised exclusively in tank, while the rest of the wines spend time in a combination of barriques and 400L barrels, with minimal new oak.
