Collectible Vintage was conceived by Master Sommeliers Gareth Ferreira and Ronan Sayburn, with the objective of showcasing some of South Africa’s most spectacular terroirs and most distinguished winemakers.
South African born Gareth is Beverage Director at three Michelin star CORE by Clare Smyth while Ronan’s glittering CV includes Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, Royal Hospital Road and 67 Pall Mall. Both are long-time clients (and friends) of Flint, and two of the most respected figures in the hospitality business.
The inaugural wine from Collectible Vintage is ONIV Chenin Blanc, made by the great Ian Naudé, of Naudé Family Wines. It was Ian, a driving force behind the qualitative revolution of Cape wines, who identified the old-vine Chenin plots in the lee of Table Mountain (west-facing, on ancient granitic soils, and cooled by the maritime breezes from False and Table Bays) that go into Oniv, along with a dash of Colombard sourced from fellow Stellenbosch luminary Kayleigh Hattin.
Future releases from Collectible Vintage, including a Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, are already in the pipeline.
