Anthill Farms started with just over 8 barrels in 2004, when three “Cellar Rats” working harvest at the coveted Williams-Selyem winery, joined forces to pursue their shared dream of making restrained wines with freshness and finesse.
Anthill Farms produces roughly 24,000 bottles from select organic and biodynamic vineyard sites on the Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley and Mendocino County. Of the three Founders, a native of Sonoma and Head Winemaker, Anthony Filiberti is focused on minimal intervention in the cellar and crafting wines with delicate concentration and expression of site.
The Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a bright and charming expression of vineyards along the coast, whilst the Harmony Lane and Peter’s Vineyard Pinots have more depth of tannin and concentration. A tiny one-acre parcel of Peter’s Vineyard was planted to Syrah and 2% Viognier solely for Anthill Farms and their love of Cote Rôtie and is quickly becoming a team favourite. The Peugh Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, a Heritage site originally planted in 1887, was grafted to Chardonnay in 1944 and has some of the oldest Chardonnay vines in the state.Their Mixed Blacks bottling from the same vineyard is a wild red field blend of mostly Zinfandel with bits of Alicante Bouschet, Carignan, Petite Sirah (and more!) and has a darker fruit profile with muscled tannins yet with the velvet glove finesse of the Anthill Farms style.
