The stunning ALS Assyrtiko is a side-project for Vassaltis winemaker Yiannis Papaoikonomou, but one he’s intensely committed to. The Assyrtikos from Vassaltis have become some of the bestloved whites in our portfolio. ALS showcases a single, late-ripening plot at some 400m altitude which, in Yiannis’ view, is one of the truly great terroirs of Santorini. Aged on its lees in tank for some 13 months, the 2019 (set to land in May) is an incredibly pure, mineral and saline wine that’s also intensely varietal and complex.
